Folios 400-401: Joseph Tullidge, HMS Clinker, Halifax. Acknowledges the letter dated 27 July 1814 enclosing a copy of a paragraph taken from the Glasgow Courier relating to his proceedings at Bantry Bay with a request to explain the circumstances. States that on the 9 July 1814 Lord George Stuart came on board and directed him to proceed to Bantry. On the 12 July 1814 with the Guns being wet and in his opinion requiring sealing, he judged proper to fire them all off, vis 12 in number, this was in no means intended as a Salute or Compliment to any one.
