Description

Folios 377-378: John Tailour, HMS Comus, Sheerness. Reports that the ship is nearly ready to receive men and that he would like a Purser appointed. He encloses [Inc.] a letter from Mr Browne, the former Purser on HMS Comus, whom Captain Matthew Smith when in command found to be an excellent Purser.

Folios 379-380: enclosure with folios 377-378. Letter dated 7 October 1814 by W Browne, 40 Lake Lane, Portsea. Letter of application for the position of Purser on HMS Comus with details of his service.
