Folios 226-227: George Truscott, HMS Havock, Little Nore. Reports that when on half pay he presented a plan for giving ships way in Calm or Light Winds, which Mr Whitmore permitted him to improve, from a model of his invention. He can now report that he has put to trial on HMS Havock an improved Plan of this machinery which with the assistance of Sheldrakes Patent Wheels he can give and continue with one third a Sloop's Company, much greater way, than the whole crew can.
