Folios 173-174: James Townshend, HMS Aeolus, Bermuda.
Commending his purser, Richard Illingworth, to their Lordships, in hope that he may be transferred to a seventy-four, merited by his seventeen years of service, of which fifteen have been as purser. Illingworth has 'high certificates' from his former captains, and Townshend speaks of his 'indefatigable exertions' to further the Service, as well as an excellent character.
