Folios 273-274: John Tower, HMS Curacao, Spithead. Acknowledging letter dated 22 October 1811 stating that he was to be paid 390 pounds for bringing home The Right Honourable Earl of Caledon, Governor and Commander in Chief of The Cape of Good Hope with his suit etc. Reports that it was signified to him by the Colonial Secretary Mr Alexander and Lord Caledon's Aid de Camp that the allowance was 500 pounds which Captain Bagel?y received.
