Folios 248-249: James Tillard, HMS Sabrina, Plymouth. In reply to Mr Barrows letter of the 26 September 1881 (received yesterday) asking him to state the extra expenses incurred in entertaining on board HMS Sabrina, His Serene Highness the Prince of Orange and Suite as per the orders from Admiral George Cranfield Berkeley. He reports that he has never kept accounts and that his steward can neither read nor write. That upon quitting Lisbon upon the above service he drew upon his agent, Henry Abbott £150, being informed this was the sum paid to Captain Carey on a similar occasion.
