Folios 207-208: John Tower, HMS Curacao, Spithead. Reply to letter of Captain George Byng enclosing one from the captain of the East India Ship, Marchioness of Exeter stating that he had put two invalids on board the ship in place of two of his best men. Informs that when he parted company with Marchioness of Exeter near the equator he ordered the First Lieutenant to search for deserters and Thomas Cross, sentenced to death for his part in a Mutiny on HMS Temeraire [1st and 11th day of December, 1801]. The other lad was John Flag volunteered having been 3 years at sea. He discharged no invalids in their place but two able bodied men named Morgan McCarthy and Dennis Dogherty.
