Folios 239-240: Nicholas Tomlinson, Witham, Essex. Responding to the receipt of letter from John Barrow signifying that the Admiralty cannot interfere with his case, explains that he did not point out in his Memorial any particular mode of redress but merely stated facts and represented his wrongs and suffering, thereby leaving the Admiralty to apply any such relief they might think fit. However he now feels it necessary to ask specifically for relief and requests an order for his legal expenses to be paid which amount to £546 3/5d and consideration is given to his wounded honour with some mark of favour and protection from the Admiralty.
Folio 241: enclosure with folios 239-240. Records slip, 20 December 1810. Noting letter of 19 December 1810 from Nicholas Tomlinson requesting reimbursement £546 3/5d in legal expenses defending himself against the prosecution by the Navy Board has been referred to the Solicitor.
