Folios 220-221: Nicholas Tomlinson, Witham, Essex. Enclosing his memorial.
Folios 222-232: enclosure with folios 220-221. Nicholas Tomlinson, Witham, Essex, 5 December 1810 to the Admiralty. Original Memorial outlining his Navy career and achievements in particular with regard to the deployment of Fire Ships at Aix Road and Flushing in 1809. Asking for the Admiralty to grant him some redres and relief for the wriongs and sufferings he has undergone defending himself against charges by the Navy Board that he had obtained stores, some 15 years earlier in 1795, with a forged voucher whilst Commander of HMS Pelter. Believes the charges, his arrest and subsequent trial to have been deliberately orchestrated by the Navy Board who have"persecuted" and treated him with contempt following his criticism of the Board over the supply of stores to the Fire Ships. Gives details of the events at the Magistrates Court and the Old Bailey. Also mentioned: William Wellesley Pole, Secretary to the Admiralty; Sir Richard John Strachan, Vice Admiral; Mr Graham and Mr Nares, Magistrates, Bow Street, London; Mr Taunton, Solicitor to Nicholas Tomlinson; Mr Knight, Deputy Solicitor to the Navy Board.
Folios 233-234: enclosure with folios 220-221. John Wilson Croker, First Secretary to the Admiralty, 12 December 1810. Note concurring with James Buller's' opinion that the Admiralty cannot grant any relief to Nicholson nor interfere in the matter. Feels that an acquittal does not entitle a person to remuneration for having stood trial but if the Board thinks it right to go more deeply into the matter, then the complaint of Nicholas Tomlinson should be referred to the Navy Board for an explanation and opinion.
Folios 235-236: enclosure with folios 220-221. [name?], the Admiralty, 15 December 1810. Note that the case of Nicholas Tomlinson appears [inexplicable?] and asks what were the circumstances that induced the Navy Board to treat Tomlison with so much severity after so many years and for such a trifling amount. [? remainder illegible].
