Folios 33-34: James Haldane Tait, HMS Grampus, off Falmouth Harbour. Reports his arrival with the convoy from St Helena. Explains the journey taken and that due to the decayed state of the Indiamens' cargo, he took the advise of the Governor of the Island to sail immediately. Reports the Tigris, extra Indiaman parted Company from the Fleet on 23 April. Intends to put into Plymouth Sound and then wait for the weather before proceeding to the Downs.
Folio 35: enclosure with folios 33-34. Map showing the track to HMS Grampus from the Cape of Good Hope to St Helena and then England.
Folios 36-37: enclosure with folios 33-34. Orders dated 28 November 1808 by Albermarle Bertie, Admiral of the Blue, given on board HMS Lightning, Table Bay to James Haldane Tait, HMS Grampus. Copy of orders advising him to sail to St Helena and take charge of the convoy and sail to England.
Folios 38-39: enclosure with folios 33-34. Orders dated 12 December 1808 by Albermarle Bertie, Admiral of the Blue, given on board HMS Powerful, to James Haldane Tait, HMS Grampus. Copy of order advising him to wait at St Helena for the arrival of HMS Powerful and further orders.
