Description

Folios 5-6: John Tower, HMS Iris, Spithead. Reports arrival of HMS Iris at Spithead without Sir Joseph Sidney York, HMS Christian VII, as per order. Also forwards other papers and a weekly account. Advises that three Lieutenants, Edward F Scott, Samuel Motley and James Anderson joined the ship for a passage to HMS Christian VII and have now joined their proper ship.

Folios 7-8: enclosure with folios 5-6. Letter dated 24 August 1809 by John Tower, HMS Iris, Spithead. Apologises for sending in a slovenly log but has had no time to do a rewrite.

Folio 9: enclosure with folios 5-6. Report on the defects on HMS Iris as at 24 August 1809.
