Folios 114-115: Sandord Tatham, Greenock. Responding to a request to discover if John Murdock is a native of Scotland, advises that it is probable that the name if fictitious as many seamen from Scotland have obtained American Protections under fictitious names. Returns the enclosed report on Murdock by Henry Vansittart, Captain.
Folios 116-117: enclosure with folios 114-115. Letter dated 25 September 1806 by Henry Vansittart, HMS Fortunee, Sheerness, to Sir Bartholomew Samuel Rowley, Vice Admiral. States the case of John Murdock, said to be an American citizen, who was impressed from the American Brig Dolly on 24 September 1804 as there was reason to believe he was Scottish. Murdock claims to have sailed previously out of Greenock on an American vessel.
