Description

Folios 179-180: Francis Temple, HMS Theseus, Downs. Reporting the arrival of HMS's Theseus, Diligence and Cerf, and 140 Sail of Merchant Ships from Jamaica. leaving 4 June 1805, 83 Bound for the Port of London and the remainder for other ports. The former have all arrived with him at this anchorage and the remainder bound up the Bristol Channel and to Ireland parted company under charge of HMS Loire on Sunday. Report on the Convoy and mention of the list of Masters who had received instructions from Rear Admiral James Richard Dacres also a list of French received on board this ship at Jamaica and distributed amongst the Merchant vessels. Reports that HMS Cerf whose commander has reported how leaky the ship was and was order into Plymouth for repairs, which he hope they approve off.

Folio 181: enclosure with folios 179-180. Admiralty note:- 7 September 1805. Send list of Convoy to Lloyds. Send list of Prisoners to Transport Board & direct them to take the necessary steps for recovering those which have been lent to the Merchant Ships. The Captain of HMS Ligaera (Late HMS Diligencia [a captured Spanish ship] to account for [his separation from the convoy - [This is deleted]]. the ships of the convoy which he was directed to take charge of.
