Description (What the record is about)

Folios 145-146: Richard Thwaits, HMS Duchess of Bedford [Defence Ship], Hosely Bay. Covering letter for the enclosed [Inc.] from Lieutenant Samuel Norman of HMS Hecate. On receiving the inelegance he gave orders for HMS Aggressor to weigh and proceed with HMS Hecate, to endeavour to ascertain if they are enemy.
Folios 147-148: enclosure with folios 145-146. Letter dated 6 June 1805 by Samuel Norman, HMS Hecate, Hosely Bay. Reports that when he was anchored he observed 5 sail of the Line and 1 Frigate. He set sail and exchanged some fire but decided it was more important to pass the information back he turned towards Hosely Bay.
