Description

Folios 135-136: Richard Thwaits, HMS Duchess of Bedford [Defence Ship], Hosely Bay. Covering letter for one received from Lieutenant John Watson, HMS Aggressor with information.

Folios 137-138: enclosure with folios 135-136. Letter dated 13 May 1805 by John Watson. HMS Aggressor, Hosely Bay. Reports that he boarded on the 12 May 1805, off the North end of the Galloper, the Russian Galliot Dunastrom, leaving Lisbon on the 20 April 1805 and bound to St. Petersburgh. The Master Conrad Wehrman informed that he saw on the 2nd May 1805, off Cape Finisterre a fleet consisting of 22 large ships and 1 Brig, sailing Southwest. hey altered course to avoid him and returned to their original course when they had passed him. This was reported to an English Frigate two days after.
