Folios 233-234: List of punishments from Captain Hyde Parker, aboard HMS Iphigenia from 1 April to 30 June 1819.
List of 24 names, with ratings, date of offence, particulars of offence, length of confinement, date of punishment, and number of lashes, mostly two dozen, some three dozen and one for 60 lashes. The offences are mainly insolence, neglect of duty, and drunkenness. Named: James Buntin, Henry Higgins, Thomas Stephens, William Hall, James Somerville, William Robinson, Thomas Patterson, Edward Fitzgerald, James Thomas, John Reilly (marine), Richard Butler (marine), Cornelius Farrell, William Arno, Joseph Ellis, Matthew Williams, William Curtin, Henry Howell (marine), John Edwards, James Cummings, Thomas Saylor, Henry Poney (marine), Stephen Head (marine), John Hawke (marine), and Henry Higgins. Admiralty note on rear says the captain is to be informed that their Lordships disapprove of 'such an extent of punishments in one instance without the sentence of a court martial'.
