Folios 220-221: William Beauchamp Proctor, Broom Place near [?]. Writes on behalf of an ordinary seaman, Thomas Leverett, who has an R against his name for having deserted from Proctor's ship, HMS Dedaigneuse in the East Indies in 1806. He says the man's previous good character is testified to by a previous captain, Peter Heywood, whose certificate he encloses [not now present]. The man also served seven years under a different name, Thomas Burt, in Port Jackson, and is currenly enrolled under that name in a veterans' battalion. Admiralty note on rear says R can only be removed if the desertion is proven false.
