Folios 217-218: Fleetwood Pellew, HMS Revolutionaire, Naples Bay. Reported being in port having arrived with Commander-in-Chief's despatches from Tunis. The Pirate, an English ship and crew, plundered the Helen, an English Brig, then tried to murder the crew by confining them below deck, stove in their boats and then scuttled the ship. They were captured near Smyrna by officers and men of Spey and Racehorse who had been sent out to search for her. Master and crew taken to Malta for trial. The English Brig Venus, from Newfoundland, was wrecked on the Mole at Naples, crew were saved. Revolutionaire to proceed to Malta for caulking and refit for winter. Weekly report sent by overland post to reach England within 19 to 20 days.
