Folios 220-221: John Temple, HMS Saint Albans, Horsley Bay. Covering letter for an enclosed [Inc.] Certificate from the Master of the Dutch Scoot which has been detained in the Orford River by HMS Adder. The circumstances of which he reported in his letter dated 22 January 1804. The Master of the Scoot wishes to proceed to London. Request direction.
Folio 222: enclosure with folios 220-221. Letter dated 23 January 1804 by John Randall, The Borough of Orford, Suffolk. Statement by John Randall, Justice of the Peace. The Neutral Ship or Schuyt Isabella was driven on shore upon Orford Beach by weather and Yde Johannes Van der Lee, Master having reported to Robert Osborne, Officer of HM Customs, that there was a passenger on board the said Schuyt which was bound for London in Ballast. Robert Osborne reported to John Randall the dangerous situation , had his permission to bring the passenger to Orford where he was placed in Police custody until he could be conveyed to the Alien Office at Harwich which was done by a Proper Officer. Dated 23 January 1804.
