Description

Folios 163-164: William Taylor, Greenwich. Request that following his arrival from the West Indies & understand that Sir Richard King had been paid a compensation for the Dutch Ship captured in the King's Port at Plymouth, the enclosed Memorial to the Treasury containing an application for a similar compensation to be made to himself, officers and ship's company of HMS Le Prompte and the detention and capture of the Zephier, Dutch Frigate of 36 Guns in Leith Roads.

Folios 165-166: enclosure with folios 163-164. Letter dated 14 April 1802 by William Taylor, Greenwich. Memorial of William Taylor Esq, Captain of HMS's Le Prompte and Andromeda on behalf of himself, Officers, and crew serving under him. In January 1795 HMS Le Prompte of 20 Guns captured the Dutch Frigate, Zephier in Leith Roads, along with HMS's Hope and Circe. The following year 1796 William Taylor commanded HMS Andromeda took possession of the Dutch Frigate as a prize.
