Folios 553-554: John Tower, HMS Lark, Downs.
He has been summoned to appear before the High Court of Admiralty to explain why he took possession of the [French privateer] La Marianne and asks for instructions regarding himself and his officers. He insists that the statements of Messers Thompson and Husband are"the most extravagant instance of want of veracity". He states he gave the papers on the matter to Lieutenant Smith. After the French captains had been identified before a magistrate the papers were to be sent to the Admiralty.
