Folios 515-516: John Tower, HMS Lark, Halfway Reach. Neither he or the officer who impressed the two men were given any indication they were exempt from impressment. He observes that anyone could claim to be Samuel Ord and that no affidavit was shown by Robert McKirdy.
Folios 517-518: enclosure with folios 515-516. Affidavit sworn by John Willins on 19 March 1803. States that the Impress Officer from the Lark boarded the Lord Middleton employed in the Coal and Coasting trade and impressed Samuel Ord, an Apprentice since 13 January 1803 and Robert McKirdy, the Chief Mate. Requests their discharge.
