Description

Folios 256-257: Francis Temple, HMS Tartarus, Gallions. States that Robert Weatherhead was detained following an incident when his ship Warkworth caused damage to the Tartarus. Edward Roberts would not have been impressed if the indenture now produced had been produced at the time. John Ferguson was impressed as he had been an apprentice for more than five years.

Folios 258-259: enclosure with folios 256-257. Petition of Robert Young, Master of the Warkworth. Undated. States that Robert Weatherhead was impressed even though he was Chief Mate of the Warkworth which is emplyed in the Coal Trade and as such exempt from impressment. [no mention of incident]

Folios 260-260A: enclosure with folios 256-257. Petition of Lewis Lewis, owner of John of Barmouth. States that Edward Roberts is only 17 years old, only speaks Welsh and is an apprentice. His Indenture is enclosed.

Folios 261-262: enclosure with folios 256-257. Petition of John Cornforth, Master of the Integrity of North Shields. States that John Ferguson is only 16 years of age and the enclosed Baptismal certificate shows.
