In response to a request that he explain what happened to the Book of Naval Statutes No.590 which he was supplied with when appointed to HMS Montreal in the Lakes in Canada he replies it was left behind with all the other books, official and personal, when he was ordered by Sir James Yeo on 30 May 1814 to pursue an American Flotilla in the Boats of the Squadron during which action he was captured. He doesnt know what happened to the book.
