Folios 221-222: John Pasco, HMS Lee at sea. Responds to Admiralty demand for an explanation as to why the Bedford, an American ship captured by HMS Tartarus which he commanded in 1812, was taken to Antigua and a Mr. Mackay employed as Prize Master. He explains all this was contrary to his instructions to John Grey whom he appointed as Prize Master but Grey missed the island of Bermuda where he was supposed to go due to strong winds, and given the poor state of the Bedford he took the advice of the American Master still on board to go Antigua. There apparently a Mr. Mackay offered to act as Agent, which Pasco was unaware of until he returned to England.
Folios 223-224: enclosure with folios 221-222. Letter dated 19 December 1812 by John Pasco, HMS Tartarus at sea. Appointment of John Grey, Acting Master of HMS Tartarus as Prize Master of the Bedford. He is to take the ship to Bermuda and put her in the charge of William Tucker, Pasco's Agent.
Folio 224: enclosure with folios 221-222. Office memo. Records the receipt of Captain Pasco's letter of 2 August 1818 concerning the capture of the Bedford and records that on 26 November 1818 it was referred to a Dr. Arnold to inquire into the matter and advise their Lordships as to how to proceed.
