Folios 457-458: William James Turquand. HMS Hound, Yarmouth Roads. Advising, as directed by Vice Admiral Sir Archibald Dickson, that James Johnson, said to be American, has acknowledged himself to be Scottish and that he volunteered to join the Service and received the Royal Bounty. He sent Johnson on board a smuggling cutter on 17 June 1800 from which he deserted at Yarmouth on 4 July 1800.
