Description

Folios 556-557: Henry Trollope, HMS Juste, Portsmouth Harbour. Covering letter for a request from [John Knowles] the Boatswain on HMS Juste, that due to his being week and infirm, after upwards of 40 years service, 22 of which as Boatswain, he is unable to go to sea but could still be of service in the Yard and in the Master Attendant. Request that John Brooks late Boatswain on HMS Russell be appointed to HMS Juste.

Folios 558-559: enclosure with folios 556-557. Letter dated 6 July 1799 by John Knowles, HMS Juste, [Portsmouth] Dock Yard. Request to be put on Check due to his being week and infirm.
