Description

Folios 488-491: George Tripp, HMS Nassau, Nore. [4 Folios - 7 sides] He has received a letter from the Admiralty signed"Nassau's Ships Company" Charging him with behaving to them in the most Tyrannical Manner. [Follows a total of 7 sides with his statement with references to document A to F Inc. as enclosures].

Folio 492: enclosure with folios 488-489. Ref A, George Tripp, HMS Nassau, Off Harwich. 25 June 1798. Victualling order for fifty tons of water.

Folio 493: enclosure with folios 488-489. Ref B, Joseph Deane. 25 June 1798. Reply to Captain George Tripp's letter of complaint about the Beer.

Folios 494-495: enclosure with folios 488-489.Ref C, George Tripp, HMS Nassau, Nore. 14 September 1798. Letter of complaint about the Beer and Victualling provided to HMS Nassau.

Folio 496: enclosure with folios 488-489. Ref E, George Cherry, John Rooney and Francis Stephens, Victualling Office. 15 September 1798. Reply to letter dated 14 September 1798.

Folios 497-498: enclosure with folios 488-489.Ref D, John Grant, London. 17 September 1798. [Also signed by W Gosling, The Commissionaires of the Victualling, London]. Reply to letter dated 15 September 1798, which enclosed Captain George Tripp's letter dated 14 September 1798 about the water and beer supplied to HMS Nassau.

Folio 499: enclosure with folios 488-489. Ref E, George Cherry, G P Tonng, Francis Stephens and R L Moody, Victualling Office. 18 September 1798. Reply to letters dated 15 September 1798 and 14 September 1798, mentions Mr M Grant, the Contractor at Harwich

Folio 500: enclosure with folios 488-489. Ref F, George Tripp, HMS Nassau, Off Harwich. 6 July 1798. Mr Francis Bennett, Purser on HMS Nassau has reported to him the complaint of the crew that the beer is sour and unfit to drink. Request a survey by the Master's of HMS's Braakhel?, Furious and Hasly?.
