Description

Folios 476-477: George Henry Towry, HMS Uranie, Plymouth Sound. Reports his arrival following orders given by Captain Richard Goodwin Keats, HMS Boadicea. Also reports that fever is on board and that he was unable to look into Brest since the 16 September 1799 due to the weather, reports that at that time there were 42 to 44 ships of the line and 16 smaller ships.

Folio 478: enclosure with folios 476-477. Orders dated 25 September 1799 by Richard Goodwin Keats, HMS Boadicea, off Brest. Orders to proceed off Ushant or Plymouth, send ashore the sick and return to rejoin him on this Rendezvous if you feel the Contagion has ceased, if it has spread wait for directions from the Commander in Chief at Torbay or the Senior Officer under the Command of Lord Bridport [Lord Alexander Arthur Hood (1st Viscount Bridport)], at Plymouth or in Cawsand Bay.

Folio 479: Enclosure with folios 476-477: Report on the fever on HMS Uranie, by the surgeons of HMS's Boadicea, Uranie and Amelia. Recommend that the 14 at present confined be separated by immediately being removed from the ship. Signed B F Outram - Surgeon HMS Boadicea, Henry Parkin - Surgeon HMS Uranie and John Morgan - Surgeon HMS Amelia.
