Folios 109-110: Sandford Tatham, North Shields. Reply to letter dated 8 July 1799, directing him to discharge Mathew Young on one Able Seaman being found in his room [place], provided the circumstances are as stated in Mr Bainbridge's letter. States that when he saw the man [Mathew Young] on the tender he was asked if he had any protection from impressment and he said no, nor did he mention being a Master till prompted by his brother three days later. He encloses the account of Lieutenant Blackett.
Folio 111: enclosure with folios 109-110. Lieutenant Blackett's account of the impressment of Mathew Young. Mathew Young had not been a Master of any of Mr Smith's ships for more than fifteen months and was discharged from the Providence by Mr Smith for bad behaviour.
