Description

Folios 338-339: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Prince Regent, Kingston. Since his letter number 66, Captain Collier having proceeded with the seamen intending to return home, he has turned over the remaining men on HMS St Lawrence to HMS Prince Regent, and appointed the Commissioners to be Captain. Captain William Owen of the Surveying Department has joined from Lake Huron, and as the remaining Senior Officer, he has been ordered to act as Captain of HMS Prince Regent until the Commissioner returns. He has also appointed him to oversee both the Civil and Military parts of the Establishment for the present. Encloses a copy of his order to Captain Owen, and to the Commissioner on his return.

Folios 340-341: enclosure with folios 338-339. Copy letter dated 28 October 1815 from Edward Owen, HMS Prince Regent, Kingston, to Captain Wiliam Owen informing him that he has forwarded the papers needed for the assumption of both the Military and the Civil part of the Establishment. until the return of the Commissioner, Sir Robert Hall. The papers to be handed over on Captain Hall's return. Meanwhile, Catain William Owen will continue with his duties in the Surveying Department.

Folios 342-343: enclosure with folios 338-339. Copy order dated 28 October 1815 issued by Edward Owen, HMS Prince Regent, Kingston, to Captain Robert Hall, HMS Prince Regent, informing him that he has sent to Captain William Owen the papers needed for the assumption of both the Military part of the Establishment, in addition to the Civil Establishment. These to be handed over to Captain Hall on his return. A list of the papers is attached.

Folios 344-345: enclosure with folios 338-339. Copy order dated 28 October 1815 issued by Edward Owen, Commander in Chief of vessels on the Lakes of Canada, to Captain William Owen, appointing him to take charge of the Military as well as the Civil Establishment in the absence of Commissioner Robert Hall. To also take command of HMS Prince Regent.

Folio 346: enclosure with folios 338-339. List dated 28 October 1815 made by Commodore Edward Owen, Commander in Chief on the Lakes of Canada, of acting appointments of Warrant Officers.
