Folios 252-253: Edward Thornborough, HMS Robust, Loch Swilly. Reports his arrival with a French ship of war La Hoche but the copy of a letter from Sir John Warren concerning her is missing. Expresses his gratitude to Lord Ranalagh and to Lord [?] Caven who is taking some of the prisoners. Also commends First Lieutenant David Colby who lost his right arm in the action. Reports that he has ordered Captain William Burchill of HMS Hebe to take 250 prisoners to England. Reports on the dead and wounded including Lieutenant David Colby who lost his right arm and Lieuteat William Cottell, Marine, who has died.
Folios 254-255: enclosed with folios 252-253. Letter dated 1 November 1798 by Edward Thornborough writes to Sir John Warren that he took posession of the French vessel La Hoche under Citizen [?]Bompart which had 1200 men on board including soldiers commanded by General Hardy. Commends his officerws and men including Captain Richard Williams of the Marines and Mr Loveday the Master.
