Folios 240-241: Edward Thornborough, HMS Robust, St Helens. A statement on the condition of ships and gun vessels under his orders is missing. A letter from Lieutenant J Lucas is enclosed.
Folios 242-243: enclosed with folios 240-241. Letter dated 11 May 1798 by Lieutenant John Lucas, HMS Swinger at St Helens reports that the gun vessel is very low on stores and in bad condition. The ships company are due 18 months pay. He asks to be allowed to proceed to Spithead to have matters put right.
