Folios 546-547: George Tripp, 3 Stone Buildings, Lincolns Inn. Re the trial or investigation into the collision of HMS Sampson and HMS Hannibal. He requests that Lieutenant William Roxborough on watch on board HMS Sampson be ordered back to England and John King Master who was discharged into HMS Alfred by order of Captain Thomas Drury on orders from Sir John Thomas Ducksworth. He is also under investigation on charge Exhibited against him by Vice Admiral Hyde Parker fro ordering 30 men to be discharge from HMS Success into HMS Sampson and requesting that the Lieutenants and master of HMS Sampson be ready for the trial. They are William Hughes, Richard Martin, J F Kelly, Charles Hemsted, Arthur Stapleton and John Davis (alias John Davies). He also refers to letter 9 November 1796 to Rear Admiral Richard Rodney Bligh about the condition of HMS Sampson and the transport and trading ships to be sent to England from Jamaica.
