Folios 269-270: George Tripp, HMS Severn, Spithead. Reporting that Thomas McGuire, Able Seaman was taken onboard HMS Chichester out of the Planter of London in the Gulph [Gulf] of Florida, after HMS Chichester had run her down, and went from that ship to Haslar Hospital. It appears by his sick ticket that he was borne as a Supernumerary on HMS Chichester and was discharged from the Hospital into HMS Royal William for attempting to desert from the Hospital. He is now on HMS Severn and thinks he has a right to Bounty. Request to know if Mr McGuire is entitled to Bounty.
