Description

Folios 261-262: George Tripp, HMS Severn, Spithead. Reporting that he has received the orders dated 21 April 1795. That in the case of all Transports for his convoy from Spithead shall be ready to sail when Admiral Lord Alexander Arthur Hood sails for the Mediterranean, He is to put himself and his Transports under his Command and Convoy until he is signalled to separate and make his way into Gibraltar and from there to proceed as per his instruction of the 11 April 1795. He has spoken to Captain Pallen who is the Agent for Transports and find that the 108th Regiment is substituted for the 127th Regiment mentioned in his first order, and that there not Transports at Portsmouth to take the 128th and 108th Regiments. He requests to know if he is to take 2nd Battalion of the 82 and 69th and the 131st Regiments on board and convoy with Admiral Lord Alexander Arthur Hood or wait for Transports for the 128th and 108th Regiments and follow with the next Mediterranean convoy.

Folios 263-264: enclosure with folios 261-262. Having laid before the Admiralty a letter from Captain George Tripp, HMS Severn relating to the sailing of the Transports with Troops. He encloses a copy of the said letter for Mr Secretary Dundas's information and await an opinion on the point stated by Captain George Tripp.
