Captured ship: St Anne of Granville (master Jacques Tancre, prize master Louwereijs Beugel of Middelburg, otherwise Laurence Bugell).
Capture history: a French merchant ship, bound from the Banks of Newfoundland to St Malo, laden with bank cod fish; taken about 6pm on 19/29 November 1673 off Morlaix after a 3-hour chase from the Isle de Batz by the 10-gun Dutch privateer Maria Catherina of Middelburg (Jan de Bonte commanding); on 22 November/2 December 1673 she was forced by contrary winds to come into the anchorage of St Helen's roads, Isle of Wight, from where the prize master went ashore to Portsmouth and surrendered the ship, which was then brought into Portsmouth.
