Captured ship: St Anne of Calais (master Bastian Mason of Calais, prize master Jacob Bastianson of Flushing [Vlissingen]).
Capture history: a French merchant ship (barque, 20 tons), bound from St Valery to Calais, laden with wheat, rye, soap, sailcloth and raw wool; taken about 5 am on 5/15 August 1672 about half a mile off Calais by a Dutch privateer of Middelburg (and all the ships papers taken off), but 8 hours later both captor and prize were chased by a French privateer, and the prize was forced into Dover harbour, and there seized.
