Folios 397-398: Thomas Twysden, HMS Pylades, Nore.
Advising that he has not yet sailed as ordered, because the pay owed to the former crew of the armed vessel Queen has not been issued, though he had heard from the Navy Board that they had forwarded the pay books - he has received a letter this day, 4 September, from the Commissioner at Chatham, saying the books have not been received. Asks therefore, if he is to remain at Nore till the wages arrive, or not. He has written again to the Board to hasten them, but fears it will be months before the sloop is at any other place where there is a commissioner. Admiralty note on rear says the men are to be paid 'expeditiously' before putting to sea.
