Folios 379-380: William Truscott, HMS Ganges, Cove of Cork.
Advising that he is having trouble collecting the necessary provisions and stores for his ship, for the voyage to the West Indies. Forty caulkers are at work on the ship but other very serious faults to the stern piece have now been discovered which will need to be rectified before he can sail without the foremast and bowsprit being endangered. Admiral Kingsmill and the Montagu have not yet arrived, and he had to ask Captain Shanks to consider with him and the carpenter and master, how best to mend the Ganges, but is still very worried. Encloses a state and condition report [not now present]. Admiralty note on rear ordering him to proceed to Plymouth docks.
