Description

Folios 278-279: John Wynter Smith, Regulating Officer, Limerick. Reply to letter dated 24 June expressing regret that the Regulating Officer in Plymouth should have deemed it necessary to make such an extraordinary report. Explaining that the impress service in Limerick makes every effort to work correctly and that the enclosed certificates of discharge of men stated by the Regulating Officer at Plymouth to have been Invalided from the Service. Mentions HMS Orestes and HMS Thalia. In the case of Michael Bang, who was reduced from Able Seaman to Ordinary Seaman he Cannot conceive how a man with eleven & half years service and 9 years in the Saps? [Royal Engineers?] could have any other rank than Able Seaman. In the case of Edmund Egan a man of 26 rejected as being a broken down merchant.

Folio 280: enclosure with folios 278-279. Certificate of Service in the Navy for Edward Buckley as Supernumery on HMS Salvador from 17 July 1814 to 20 September 1814 aged 34.

Folio 281: enclosure with folios 278-279. Certificate of Service in the Navy for Patrick Geary as Able Seaman on HMS Franchise from 1 August 1807 to 1 September 1814 aged 27.
