Description

Folios 253-254: William Simpson, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 7 July 1815 in the case of Christopher Hants said to be Mate on the Margaret. He was impressed on the 1 June 1815 by Lieutenant porter? as an Able Seaman aged 24, he was taken at the request of his Master for misconduct and bad behaviour, produced no bond or certificate.

Folios 255-256: enclosure with folios 253-254. Covering letter, undated and signed by R Odgers and Thomas Sinclair for a statement about Christopher Hants.

Folios 257-258: enclosure with folios 253-254. Statement about Christopher Hants signed by R Odgers and Thomas Sinclair.

Folios 259: enclosure with folios 253-254. James Day, Liverpool, dated 5 June 1815. Sorry to inform you that your son Mr Hants Bligh was impressed and is now in Plymouth. If you take this protection and Mates Bond to the Admirals Office and I expect that it will clear him

Folios 260: enclosure with folios 253-254. Certificate that Christopher Hants was Chief Mate on the Brig Hope from Plymouth for about 2 years. Signed H? Curling, Master of said Brig.
