Description

Folios 183-184: James Slade, HMS Experiment, Falmouth. Reporting the arrival of HMS Sparrow, having sprung a leak, and having also sprung her main Gaff. On examining HMS Sparrow, the Carpenter of this ship Reports having found two trunnel holes under the Main Chains and that after he had plugged them she still made water. Captain [Francis Erskine] Loch intends putting to sea the instant she has been supplied with a Gaff and make his way to Plymouth.

Folio 185: enclosure with folios 183-184. Defects report for HMS Sparrow dated 20 January 1814 signed Francis Erskine Loch Captain and John Van Carpenter.
