Folios 75-76: James Keith Shepard, No. 1 Surry St, Strand. Responding to Admiralty letter of 10 September, with its enclosures, says he did authorise Mr George Judman to apply for the accounts of and wages due to the seamen raised under his superintendance at Gravesend. Says the terms of Mr Judman's letter transmitted by Carling and Dunnett[?] are for these purposes alone and as it was his practice to submit the accounts so obtained to the seamen for their approval, and cause them to draw on the parties concerned or to give receipts for the amounts due to them. Says he has never had any objections to his methods and found them to answer fully his aim of settling claimants' just claims in a speedy manner. Admiralty has further queries.
Folio 77: enclosure with folios 75-76. Record Office form, simply notes Captain Shepard's name and date of 17 September 1813.
