Description

Folios 53-54: William Stephens, HMS Imogen, Motherbank. Awaiting further orders from the Admiralty. He reported that he waited for four hours off Cadiz and put in force orders from Vice Admiral Sir Edward Pellew and Rear Samuel Hood Linzee. Enclosed is a weekly account and report of the sick and the defects of the vessel.

Folio 55: enclosure with folios 53-54. A copy of a letter from Rear Admiral Samuel Hood Linzee, HMS San Juan, Gibraltar to William Stephens, HMS Imogen, dated 22 August 1813. In addition to orders from Vice Admiral Sir Edward Pellew are orders to wait off Cadiz for four hours for any trade as may be ready to form a convoy and proceed with them to Downs as per orders from Pellew and advise the Admiralty of your arrival and deliver the enclosed Dispatch. Once in the soundings in the channel he and the vessels in the convoy are to hoist their Quarantine flags and await the visit of the pratique office.

Folio 56: enclosure with folios 53-54. A copy of a letter from Vice Admiral Sir Edward Pellew, HMS Caledonia of Toulon, to Williams Stephens, HMS Imogen, dated 26 July 1813. Orders to pick up letters from Vice Admiral Francis Pickmore in Mahon, Menorca and dispatches from Rear Admiral and Lord William Bentick at mouth of river Ebro and then to proceed to Gibraltar to pick up any trade ready to proceed to Downes. If there is no trade he is to go to Spithead instead and await further orders.

Folio 57: enclosure with folios 53-54. Report by Alexander [Ramsay?], Carpenter and countersigned by William Stephens of the defects to HMS Imogen, Spithead, dated 14 September 1813.

Folio 58: enclosure with folios 53-54. Weekly return of the sick and wounded on HMS Imogen 4-14 September 1813 by David [Moores?], Surgeon.
