Folios 50-51: George Manners Sutton, HMS Derwent, St Helen's. Advising that he is not able to pass accounts for the time he spent commanding HMS Oberon, 10 February 1806 to 29 May 1810, as he was never able to find a clerk who understood his business - such men being, as their Lordships must be aware - difficult to procure for small ships. He was unlucky in having several very bad ones, including one who deserted taking away all the paperwork. However the important ones are in office and the warrant officers have passed their own, so asks that their Lordships might dispense with further details. Admiralty note says to refer to the Navy Board.
Folio 52: enclosure with folios 50-51. Paper office form for when any original paper is sent away. From Captain Sutton, 14 September 1813, summarising the letter.
