Description

Folios 106-109. Letter from [the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland the Earl of] Buckingham to Viscount Weymouth concerning efforts to standardise orders and regulations in the army regiments on the Irish and British establishments. Seeks to know if measures to pay recruits from the day of enlistment may be introduced as a priority. Sir John Irvine [Irwine] had intended to discuss these matters on a scheduled visit to England. However, the King seeking a meeting with Major-General [Robert] Cunninghame, and it not being advisable for both generals to be absent from Ireland at once, guidance is sought as to which should visit England first. Dated at Dublin Castle. Enclosing: Folios 108-109: The report of Sir John Irvine, mentioning financial and accounting provisions, and proposing General Cunninghame to implement the measures.
