Description

Folios 40-44. Letter from [Viscount] Harcourt to Viscount Weymouth concerning the case of Alexander Lowry, a prisoner in Dundalk [Louth], who was captured aboard a vessel retaken from the American rebels [the Continental Navy]. Dated at Dublin Castle. Enclosing: Folio 42: Memorial describing how he was sent on business to America by his uncle, James Lowry, and forced into the rebels service as a seaman aboard a privateer. Folios 43-44: Affidavit of James Lowry, concerning his nephew, a linen draper from Shanachans [Newry], Down. Signed by ?W Bevan.
