Description

Folios 176-177: James Keith Shepard, Gravesend. Regarding receipt of documents from Major Midgley about William Bowars alias Bowen alias George Burnes a deserter from HM Brig Urgent.

Folios 178-179: enclosure with folios 176-177. Letter dated 15 July 1813 by Major John Midgley, Tilbury Fort, to James Keith Shepard. Regarding a recruit, enlisted by the 24 Dragoons between Norfolk and Maidstone, who confessed to being a deserter from HM Sloop Urgent.

Folios 180-18q: enclosure with folios 176-177. Description of deserter from HM Sloop Urgent George Burnes alias William Bowen or William Bowars being held under Guard at Tilbury Fort.
