Folios 27-28: James Slade, HMS Experiment, Falmouth. Regarding the arrival of HM late Packet Duke of Montrose, captured on her voyage to America by the American ship President. Seeking approval to agree with Commodore Rodgers instructions before he releases the men, who sent the Duke of Montrose to England as a cartel with her own crew plus crews from the Kitty of Greenock, and Maria of Port Glasgow, both from Newfoundland.
Folios 29-30: enclosure with folios 27-28. Letter dated 10 June 1813 by John Rodgers, Commander of US Frigate President, at Sea. Signed list of officers, crew and passengers of HM Packet Duke of Montrose pledging not to serve in arms against the United States of America during the present war or not until they are exchanged as prisoners of war. Also agreeing that the Brig will be allowed to proceed to the United States of America without hinderance. Private Secretary Mr David West also mentioned.
